If you’ve asked for quotes on a website, you were probably surprised by how different they are: some people charge very little and others charge ten times as much for “the same thing.” The truth is that it’s not the same thing. The cost of a website depends on what your business needs and what the work includes.
Here I explain what it depends on, so you can compare quotes with a clear head.
What affects the price most
| Factor | What changes |
|---|---|
| Type of site | A single-section landing page doesn’t take the same work as a multi-page site or an online store |
| Design | An adapted template costs less than a design made to fit your brand |
| Content | Whether you provide the copy and photos, or they need to be written, photographed or produced on video |
| Features | WhatsApp button, forms, bookings, payments, catalog, multiple languages |
| Integrations | Connection to your CRM, your ads, Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel |
| Speed and SEO | Whether it loads fast on mobile and is set up to show up on Google |
| Maintenance | Who updates it and keeps it running after it’s delivered |
The costs you pay every year
On top of the build itself, every website has recurring costs:
- Domain: your address on the internet (for example, yourbusiness.com). It renews every year.
- Hosting: the server where your site lives. There are free options for simple sites and paid plans for larger ones.
- Email on your domain, if you want it.
- Maintenance, if someone else takes care of updating it.
Always make sure the domain and the accounts are in your business’s name. If they’re in the provider’s name, you could lose your site the day you stop working with them.
A website like this one
I designed and coded the site you’re looking at from scratch: it loads fast, adapts to any screen, is in two languages and always has the WhatsApp button within reach.
This very site, on desktop and on mobile.
What to ask before getting a quote
- Is the design custom or a template?
- Who writes the copy and gets the photos?
- Does it look good and load fast on mobile? Most of your visitors will come from there.
- Is it set up for Google? Titles, descriptions, speed and a sitemap.
- Can I update it myself, or do I depend on the provider?
- Whose name are the domain and hosting in?
- What happens after delivery? Support, tweaks and maintenance.
Your website is part of the strategy, not decoration
A beautiful website that nobody visits doesn’t do much. What makes a website valuable is that it works together with the rest of your marketing:
That’s why, rather than asking how much a website costs, it’s better to ask what it needs to achieve: getting people to message you, book, buy or find you on Google.
How I can help
I design and code websites, landing pages and online stores for businesses in Mérida and anywhere in Mexico, connected to your WhatsApp, your ads and your CRM. Every project is quoted based on what it needs. And if you also want to bring in visitors, I can take care of the content and ads so your website is part of a complete strategy.
Message me, tell me what your business needs and I’ll send you a proposal.
