Mérida has become a hub for health services in southeastern Mexico: medical practices, dental clinics, aesthetic clinics and specialists see patients from all over the Peninsula and from other states. That means more opportunities, but also more competition. Being a good doctor is no longer enough for patients to find you; you need them to find you first and trust you before they call.
How patients look for a doctor today
- They search on Google for “dentist near me” or the name of their condition.
- They check your profile on Google Maps: reviews, photos, hours.
- They look at your social media to get to know you: how you talk, what your practice looks like, whether you come across as trustworthy.
- They message you on WhatsApp to ask about prices and availability.
If you’re missing from any of those steps, or don’t reply in time, the patient moves on to the next result.
1. Your Google profile: the front door
For a medical practice, showing up on Google Maps with good reviews is as important as having a good location. Your profile should have real photos of your practice, up-to-date hours, your specialties and a WhatsApp number. I explain how to do it in how to show up on Google Maps and get more reviews.
2. Content that builds trust
Patients choose someone they feel is approachable and trustworthy. Video is the best way to get there: explaining a treatment, answering common questions, showing your practice and introducing your team.
Videos for health and wellness professionals.
Some ideas that work really well:
- Frequently asked questions answered in under a minute.
- Myths and facts about your specialty.
- What to expect at your first appointment, to take away the fear.
- Your story and your training, so the patient knows who they’ll be seeing.
3. Ads to reach patients in your area
With ads on Meta and Google you can show up for people in and around Mérida who are looking for or need your specialty. On Google you appear when someone is already searching for a treatment; on Facebook and Instagram you reach people who don’t know you yet. If you’re not sure where to start, I explain whether Meta Ads or Google Ads is right for you.
4. A WhatsApp that books appointments
Most patients write outside of office hours. With automation, every message gets an immediate reply, the patient is asked for basic details and offered an appointment:
Hi, do you have any appointments available this week?
Hi! Yes, happy to help. Is this your first visit, or are you already a patient?Automatic reply · instant

The system can also send appointment reminders to cut down on no-shows, plus follow-up messages after the visit. I explain it in detail in how to automate your business’s WhatsApp.
Be careful with health advertising rules
Advertising for health services in Mexico is regulated by the General Health Law (Ley General de Salud) and its advertising regulations, and in many cases you need to file a notice or obtain a permit from COFEPRIS, Mexico’s health regulator. Some good practices:
- Don’t promise cures or guaranteed results.
- Include your professional license number (cédula profesional) and the details the regulations require.
- Be careful with how you present treatments and results, especially in aesthetics.
- Before launching campaigns, check the current requirements with COFEPRIS or a health regulation advisor.
A well-built strategy helps you grow without putting your practice at risk.
